At some point in life, I started enjoying life a little too much and I gained some weight… Like a lot of weight and for a while I’ve been working on that as much as possible.
Losing weight is not something which magically happens, so it took a while to achieve my current result of losing 21 kg! This journey has been far from easy but for sure it was all worth it! Oh and don’t get me wrong, I’m still not at the weight that I would like to be, but it’s a process.
Ready, Set… GO!
When I first started, 20th January 2024, the idea was to get below 100 kg, weighing 119,6 kg at that moment. I started with a personal trainer, working out twice a week and started understanding the concepts of a healthy food and adjusting things to the way I eat. Over time, these small changes added up and I started to lose weight. However the process was far from fast.
First Round….
Now, a year later I’m below 100 KG and I’m currently weighing 98,3 kg, which is even below my initial goal! Hooray! So I’ve adjusted my goals and I’m aiming toward 90 kg before the end 2025! Yeah, So I still have a lot to work on for but still…
New Mindset…
When my friends & family see me now, they’re amazed by the progress and ask me what I’ve done. The answer to that is quite simple; having a new mindset. Yes, I know it sounds very cliché but it is.
One of the biggest game-changer for me was finding a form of exercise that I really enjoyed and looked forward to doing. In my case this is hitting the gym, I’ve made it to a point to move my body almost everyday. I kept tracking my progress with my Samsung Galaxy Watch to measure the amounts of steps and other activities. It’s no longer just about losing weight, it’s about feeling strong, energized and proud to see results.

Another thing is being aware of what you eat and consume on a daily basis. For this I used an app called “Lifesum“. Simply logging in the meals that you eat and it’ll provide you with the calories and other nutrition aspects. This is a great tool to make you aware of what you consume and can guide you using specific diets.
The fun part? I linked the data between the two apps so I could have a great overview of calories in/out on a daily basis.
Are We There Yet?
Nope, not even by far! 😉 I’m really proud to have lost 21kg and it’s been a quite journey. It has taught me many lessons and the most important thing is the willingness to adapt. While I’m proud with what I’ve achieved so far, I know that this is just the beginning.
To anyone out there who’s on a similar path, remember: Progress takes time! Celebrate the small victories along the way and don’t be too harsh on yourself if things don’t go as planned! What matters most is a positieve mindset!
I’ll continue to share my journey from time to time as I work towards my new goal of reaching 90kg.
