As I wrote earlier, I’ve lost 21, sorry make that 22 kilos! When talking to relatives & friends they asked me how I build up my gym routine & schedule as they’re curious about my approach
While to me, using AI tools, such as ChatGPT, is almost becoming a second nature, it is still unfamiliar territory for others. And when I tell them that ChatGPT has helped me with my workout plan, they’re amazed! So, let’s break it down…
The Power of AI
Using AI is kinda amazing actually. You can use it for almost anything and it will provide answers. Sure, the answers might not always be 100% inaccurate but so might be the Google results as well. That’s why critical thinking is key! As with everything in life, you need to understand the topic, dig into the topic, discuss it with other and then make up your mind about it. However, in general, it has a lot of information which you can leverage to your needs.
In my case, going to the gym wasn’t new. I had been training with a PT (Personal Trainer), for the last 1,5 years. I had a bit of knowledge about the equipment but due several reasons my PT session came to an end.
Why I had to stop training with my PT?
One of the main reasons was an injury. I broke my Radial Head in my right arm after slipping and landing badly.

The bone shattered into peaces and had to be surgically replaced with a radial head prothesis. Because of this I had to stop training for a couple of months. Unfortunately full recovery will take up to 1 year. Even now, Almost 5 months later after the surgery and having a beautiful prothesis in my arm, many movements are either impossible or very painful. I have to be extremely careful.
Another reason was that my PT, who had become a good friend, started his own gym together with a business partner. Understandably, his focus shifted to building his business, which meant he had little to no time for personal sessions.
Back To the Gym…
Anyways…. Since my surgeon advised me to start using arm as much as possible, I decided to go back to the gym. Even though I had some experience with the equipment, I wasn’t used to train on my own. I was used to have a PT, who would always have a workout plan ready each time and one which I simply followed! So going back to the gym didn’t feel as good as it once did.
ChatGPT To the Rescue…
After two or three sessions, I missed my friend/PT and wished I had some kind of structured plan. Suddenly it hit me! Why not use AI?
I started to make a list of all the equipment available at the gym. I categorized them into 3 sections: Left, right and middle and gave them numbers. I fed that information to ChatGPT and asked it to provide me with a gym workout plan focusing on weight loss. Just to be sure, I asked for a description of each equipment including which areas the equipment was targeting so I knew what I was doing.
First Try….
After trying the schedule for a day or two, I noticed that it didn’t work as well. I noticed that some of the exercises were actually too hard and impossible to do with my injury, the workout plan was too short and I was repeating the same exercises everyday.
Second round…
I showed my physiotherapist the workout plan and she advices me to skip some due to my injury with explanation why I needed to skip them.
With that information, the fact that the schedule was too short and that I didn’t really enjoyed certain exercises I went back to ChatGPT.
I now provided those additional information in detail. ChatGPT understood my limitations and wishes perfectly and immediately came up with a different workout plan.
Perfect Workout plan?
The new workout plan which I’m following every day now is a bliss to follow. Each day focuses on a different muscle groups and is therefore different. Since I’m planning to the gym every day, it also came up with an “Active Recovery” day on Sunday as well!
Each workout plan now is approx. 1 hours and 10 min. Long enough for a solid workout but it’s not overwhelming. This is very much doable after a hard day of work at the office and can be fitted into my daily life with kids and other responsibilities. The exercises are now also doable with my injury, which is a huge win!
Do I have the perfect plan? I don’t know but without any doubts I can tell that I enjoy doing it.
Weight loss & AI: An Overlooked Option?
What I learned with this example is that AI is powerful and you can use it for anything. Even for your gym schedule! However, you need to fed it the correct way!

When searching on the net, we have learned to use the right keywords, with AI tools you need to feed it with as much information as possible so it can understand your need.
In a way: AI works pretty much like a human being: If you want useful advise, you need to explain your problem, your limitations, your goals and your possibilities as detailed as possible!
With my experience so far, I can say that it’s awesome to have AI tools available. You can use their database to your needs just like I did. When I tell my relatives and friends about this, the response is always the same: I had no idea AI could do that!
