Going to the gym and losing weight is one thing, but we shouldn’t forget that what we eat is just as important.

After all, fitness isn’t just about exercise—it’s about nourishing our bodies the right way! In today’s fast-paced world, food has become more about convenience than consciousness. We, or at least I, eat on autopilot. Grabbing whatever is quick and easy, without considering how it affects my body and mind.

Now when you try to lose weight, start working out, then you start thinking about what you eat. After all you want to lose weight and therefore you need to be aware of it as well. This is where technology comes in to help you!

In order to lose weight, you need to count your calories, but I didn’t knew where to start! Much like AI can help you create your workout plan, you can use nutrition apps like Lifesum to start creating awareness of what you eat.

Creating Awareness Through Nutrition Apps

At first I really didn’t pay attention to the amount of calories to start with. Obviously everyone knows that eating McDonald’s everyday is not very healthy, but in my head, the way that I eat wasn’t an issue.

At first it started simply by tracking food intake and counting calories. While tracking my food intake in those apps, I now had insights into the amount of calories, balance and portion sizes. Those insights were sometimes pretty tough to see. Even though they were just some numbers on a screen!

Over time I started to see patterns in my eating habits which triggered me to stop seeing and feeling the app as a restriction. I started to use it as a monitor to reflect on my eating behavior and become aware of the impact of the way I eat.

The Role of Nutrition Apps in Mindful Eating

As soon as I started to use the apps as a monitor, changing my perspective and moving away from simple food tracking, I felt the need to switch to another app. I now wanted an app which could sync its data with Samsung Health as well. So after trying several nutrition apps, I chose to continue with Lifesum.

Lifesum isn’t just about counting calories, it provides me with a detailed breakdown of proteins, carbs and fats. I use it now to understand whether I’m eating a balanced diet. Therefore I can make better choices since it’s now much more visible for me what’s actually in my meal and by doing so, I don’t feel hungry all the time.

From Tracking to Awareness

When looking back, it started as a simple calorie counting but ended up being aware of food! Don’t get me wrong, I still love a juicy burger, but now I eat to nourish my body and mind.

Using nutrition apps, or even AI, is now about gaining the right insights and making the correct choices.

So, have you ever used an app to track your nutrition? What was your experience? Let me know in the comments!
