Dutch Privacy Regulators warns: Google Analytics May Be Banned in NL?

According to this article Dutch privacy regulator Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) is warning that Google Analytics may soon be banned in The Netherlands.

This due to a recent research which showed that there is a US-EU data transfer when using Google Analytics.

The warning is found in the manual for Privacy Friendly Setup of Google Analytics which can be found here. Also in the same document the Dutch Privacy Regulators mentions that they’ll start their own research early 2022 since they’ve received some complaints so more to come.

Now we all know that Google Analytics is heavily used on almost each website, including mine as well, so it’s going hard to be replaced.

I’m not very familiar with other analytic tools out there, I’m sure there are others which can do the job as well. This brings me on a thought to start looking for other privacy friendly analytics tools which are available… So should you know one of two, just let me know in the comments!
