Background

I completed my studies in System Administration, but I wasn’t really into IT at that time. It felt a bit too “nerdy” at that time and I saw myself doing a commercially oriented job. So, I ended up studying Media Management and started my career in Marketing. Later switching to Operations side of the business.

Over time I switched to purchasing but IT followed me on each of my steps, so in the end I became “Purchasing & IT Representative”. It was at this point that I realized that IT wasn’t just for the “nerds” and that maybe, I really enjoyed it A LOT!

At a certain moment in time, the company I was working for, got acquired by a large international corporation and with that… Suddenly everything changed. Right in the middle of all those changes, a new opportunity knocked on my door; a chance to dive headfirst into IT, every single day as System Engineer.

So, for the past couple of years, I’ve been knee-deep in networking, configuring Cisco & Aruba switches, “messing around” with On-Prem and cloud server setups! Funny to see how life circles back around, isn’t it? After all those different roles, I somehow landed exactly where I initially started with: IT! It keeps me wondering; was this entire journey meant to bring me right here, right now? I don’t know but for sure I can tell you that it feels like it’s meant to be!

The Roots: From Portfolio to Blog!

This website is a successor of my portfolio originally hosted on BioTecK.net. It started as a school project during Media Management, where the task was to showcase your skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Yep, next to my roles in Marketing, Operation, Purchasing and IT, I’m creative as well. I’ve designed several flyers, posters and websites for various events, companies and organizations.

While others stick to traditional offline portfolios, I choose to do things differently and showcased mine online. After a careful consideration about the proper name, I came with BioTeck.net, combining “Behrad” for the “B”, “Bio” for Biography, and “TecK” for a humorous tech twist. The .net was chosen carefully to represent the internet, blending seamlessly with my studies.

During the rise of blogging, I integrated a blog section with one of the first releases of WordPress, sharing personal adventures, IT, tech, and design topics from 2003 to late 2011. After a decade-long break, I resumed writing on 16th of October 2021, launching EyeTeeBee.com (pronounced as IT B) and publishing blogs until November 2023.

ITB4X: A New Era…

Despite the success of EyeTeeBee.com, I’ve decided for a “fresh” start with ITB4X.com. As always there is a twist in the name:

• IT: Represents Information Technology (representing my true identity, haha)
• B: stands for Behrad
• 4: denotes “for”
• X: Represents Exchange

The essence of the blog however hasn’t changed; I’ll share everything from IT-related topics like cool Dockers, handy software, network infrastructure topics, smart home technology to personal topics close to my heart.

Transitioning was straightforward, but now comes the challenge of creating a new logo and updating the website. Perhaps I should have started with the logo, draw the rest around it? Hmmmm… I’ll figure it out as we proceed!
